late night diapers2

Last weekend, my friends and I threw a super fun ocean themed baby shower for my friend Kim (and Dan)! Even though I helped to coordinate the event, I actually had to miss it because I came down with the flu  :*(. SO SAD. But I am still so proud of how things turned out, and wanted to share some of my favorite ideas from the party!

First of all, here are the invitations. How cute are they?! My friend Wendy put so much love and time and care into making sure these turned out just right. She has definitely gotten her money’s worth from her Cricut cutting machine! And yes, guests received a variety of invitations! (I got the sea otter 😀 SO CUTE.)

invites

The decorations made the whole atmosphere fun and festive:

Whale Mobile

Whale mobile: Thread clear fishing line through animal shapes and hang from an  embroidery hoop.

Aqua bubbles

Aqua bubbles: Cut out a million circles (using a circle punch), then sew them together!

star pillow

Star pillow: I have no idea. Gotta ask Joyce for that one. Props.

banner and aqua bubbles

Ocean-themed banner: Okay, you really do need a Cricut for this one. Find yourself a Wendy to help you make awesome things.

diaper cake

Isn’t this the cutest diaper cake ever???

And of course, my favorite part: THE FOOD! Here are some highlights!

sailboat jello

Blue raspberry jello with mandarin orange sailboats! Too cute!

sea glass and shellsSea Glass and shell candies. Gorgeous!

Oyster cookies

Pearl Oyster Cookies: Pipe some filling onto wafer cookies, drop in a pearl, and voila! A beautiful oyster cookie :). (For the more adventurous baker, you could make macaroons and achieve a similar visual effect with a softer culinary outcome. Yum!)

sand dollar cookies

Sand Dollar Cookies! Simple and cute!

sea water punch2

Hawaiian punch and lemonade: Boom. Color and excitement to your party!

crab croissants

Just poke in some eyes and you’ve got some adorable crab sandwiches!

Guests noshed on the snacks and indulged in their own creative whimsies at the various activity stations around:

headbands2

I love this idea: headband making station for the couple expecting a little girl!
You can purchase a set here.

abc book2

ABC book that can go with any shower theme! Get the template here.

Late Night Diapers

Write encouraging notes on diapers for parents so they can crack a smile during those late-night diaper changes!

For the party favors, Chrissy made and decorated these adorable whales– aren’t they the cutest?!

And there you are: Kim’s ocean themed baby shower! I’m sure everyone had a whale of a time, and I hope you enjoyed the party through pictures! You can imagine how devastated I was to miss all the festivities, but I am thrilled that Kim and all her friends had a blast. Hope you enjoyed visiting her party, and I hope this inspires you to have your own fun ocean-themed party in the future!

“Whale” seeya later! 😉
